Description
Catholicism

The Roman Catholic Church claims that Jesus bestowed the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven upon St. Peter and that, as his rightful successor, the Pope is therefore the supreme spiritual authority of the entire Christian world.

Orthodoxy

Maintaining that its bishops are the true and direct successors of Christ's apostles, the Eastern Orthodox Church claims to be the original Christian faith as passed down through sacred liturgical tradition.

Coptic
100px

Tracing its origins to Saint Mark the Evangelist, the Coptic Church is famous for both being the birthplace of Christian monasticism as well as maintaining a long tradition of the promotion of education and philosophy.

Apostolic

Founded by the Apostles Bartholomew and Thaddeus, the Armenian Apostolic Church rapidly gained followers in the region and shepherded the Kingdom of Armenia into becoming the first state ever to adopt Christianity as its official religion.

Insular Christianity
100px

A rural church that drifted away from Roman Catholic orthodoxy some centuries ago, Insular Christianity has lost many of its once-distinctive features at the insistence of its mother-church. It yet retains a greater emphasis on penance and monasticism, and incorporates many traditional Celtic marriage customs foreign to wider Christendom.

Krstjani

Long forgotten by Catholic and Orthodox alike, the Krstjani of the Bosnian highlands are more permissive than their better-known compatriots, but lack formal structure. Retaining many archaic elements of Christianity, they are often treated scornfully by coreligionists, if remembered at all.

Conversos
100px

The Conversos originated when Jewish communities were forcibly converted to Christianity. Though they have embraced their new faith, they still remember their old traditions and are sympathetic towards those who still follow them.

Nestorianism
100px

In teaching that Jesus Christ has two natures, one divine and one human, Nestorianism has been declared as heretical by most Christian faiths. Despite this, its unique outlook has garnered followers in places as far east as China, India, and even Mongolia.

Bogomilism
100px

Electing their spiritual leaders from amongst the general populace, Bogomils reject all worldly trappings and institutions of power, advocating instead for a return to the earlier methods of spiritual teaching practiced by Christ and his disciples.

Catharism
100px

Teaching that all matter was created by Satan and is therefore inherently tainted with sin, Cathars believe that the only way to achieve salvation is to reject the materialistic world, and with it, all worldly desires.

Iconoclasm

Believing that any use of spiritual symbols violates the Second Commandment to not make any graven images, the Iconoclasts seek to destroy existing religious iconography and reject the creation of new ones.

Lollardy

Denouncing many common Christian sacraments like baptism and confession, Lollards hold that The Holy Bible is the only valid source of Christian doctrine and that any teachings not directly based on it are inherently illegitimate.

Paulicianism

Rejecting the divinity of Christ and viewing the veneration of the cross as heathenish, Paulicians aim to restore what they believe to be the true form of Christianity as laid out by Paul of Tarsus.

Waldensianism

Holding that the accumulation of wealth is an anathema that is incompatible with achieving salvation, Waldensians preach apostolic poverty as being the path to perfection and believe that priests should hold neither titles nor lands.

Messalianism
100px

Believing that the essence of God can be perceived through the carnal senses, the Messalians reject traditional Christian sacraments and instead seek to experience God directly through less conventional means of worship.

Adamitism
100px

The Adamites claim to have recaptured Adam and Eve's original state of innocence by shedding their clothes. Groups of Adamites often live in a state of absolute lawlessness, claiming that due to this innocence their actions can be neither good nor evil.

イスラム教[編集 | ソースを編集]

Muslim faiths have the special doctrine Teachings of the Prophet, which makes them treat faiths with the Islamic Syncretism tenet hostile instead of evil, and neutralizes opinion penalties with them. They also have the main doctrine Muhammad's Succession, which divides them into the Sunni, Shia, Muhakkima and Zandaqa sub-groups. Members of sub-groups largely treat each other as astray instead of hostile; only the Zandaqa group still treats others as hostile, but will also get  +5 advantage against co-religionists. Some Muslim faiths don't have access to the Undertake the Hajj decision.

Faith Description
Ash'arism

An orthodox school of theology that holds that Allah has created every moment in time, but that humans have free will to choose between good — what God has commanded — and evil — what God forbids.

Muwalladism
100px

Far from the center of the Arabic world, Iberian Muslims adapted to the realities of ruling over a region with large Christian and Jewish populations that had strange, foreign traditions.

Maturidism
100px

A rationalist theology which espouses that ethics have an objective existence, as derived from the eternal qualities of God, and that humans must therefore pursue ethical choices.

Almohadism
100px

A reformist branch of Sunni Islam that originated with the Berber tribes in northern Africa, the Almohadi movement saw themselves as unitarians and preached a doctrine of purified monotheism.

Mu'tazilism
100px

A rationalist school of theology that asserts that the Quran is not eternally co-existing with God, as God must have preceded his own word.

Isma'ilism
100px

A Shia faith that considers the line of true Imams — those imbued with divine knowledge and infallibility — to run through Isma'il bin Jafar. They are also known as Seveners, as Isma'il was the seventh Imam after Muhammad.

Zayidism
100px

A true Imam is not infallible, but defined by their struggle against corruption and evil. Zayidis are therefore defined by their belief that Zayd ibn Ali was the rightful successor to the Imamate, due to his rebellion against the Umayyads.

Nizarism
100px

A rationalist faith that emphasizes reasoning in interpretation of the Quran and hadiths. Being Imam is hereditary, and they trace the line of succession to Ali.

Imamism
100px

Imamis believe that Twelve Imams were prophesied to lead the Ummah, and that the twelth Imam, Imam Zaman, is waiting to return to lead Muslims into the Day of Judgement.

Ibadism
100px

The Ibadi do not believe that it is necessary for the entirety of Islam to be governed by a Caliph or an Imam, if there is no suitable candidate. They are therefore Muhakkima, recognizing neither the line of Ali or the successors of Abu Bakr as worthy leaders.

Najdatism
100px

Adherents of the Najdati branch of the Khawarij firmly believe in the establishment of Muslim leadership through the consensus of the faithful. The leader is not infallible, but through the community they are chosen by God.

Azarqism
100px

Recognizing no worthy successor to Muhammad, the Azariqas consider it their right and duty to struggle against any leader who does not uphold the values of their faith. Indeed, any difference in interpretation of faith would mark one as an infidel.

Sufrism
100px

The Sufri believe in divine guidance and leadership through the interpretation of the word of God, rather than inheritance. The will of God becomes known as an expression of the Ummah's will, as long as the people of the Ummah are well-versed in the Quran.

Druze

Hailing from the Mountain of Druze, the Druze faith follows many of the principles of Isma'ilism, but also includes gnostic beliefs in an esoteric theology focused on the Truth of existence.

Alawism

Alawite religious teachings are secretive, and the Quran is only one of their sacred texts. In addition to the belief in the succession of Imams through Ali, Alawis also believe in reincarnation, and that all beings were stars cast out of heaven who must now re-earn their place by living successive good and faithful lives.

Alevism

Alevis believe in the succession of the Twelve Imams, but also follow many other traditions as outlined in their collection of holy texts, the Buyruks. In Alevi tradition, God is the Truth, and Muhammad and Ali are manifestations of Him in the world.

Ikhtilafism
100px

Ikhtilafis believe in the divine nature of the infallible Imams, starting with Ali. God has not only appointed and inspired them, but partially inhabits them to guide their acts, and by extension all of the Ummah.

Qarmatianism

A branch of Isma'ilism that incorporated elements of Zoroastrianism. The number of Imams was preordained by God to be seven, and there could therefore be no more Imams before the seventh Imam — Muhammad ibn Isma'il — returned to guide the faithful.

Quranism
100px

A literalist interpretation of Islam that emphasizes that the Quran as the only source of divine wisdom, and should be followed to the letter, ignoring hadith and fatwas.

ユダヤ教[編集 | ソースを編集]

Jewish faiths have the special doctrine Teachings of Moses, which makes them treat faiths with the Jewish Syncretism tenet as hostile instead of evil, and neutralizes opinion penalties with them.

Faith Description
Kuzarism

Kuzaris emphasize the common and correct interpretation of the Halakha, in conjunction with Khazar tradtions and local folklore.

Haymanot
100px

The rabbis, or kahen, judge in matters of religious law, but they work together with a circle of elders who judge in matters of tradition and life.

Rabbinism
100px

Rabbinism emphasizes the rabbis' purpose as interpreters of the religious law of the Halakha. Laws and traditions is what ensures the covenant with the Lord is kept, and the rabbis guard those laws.

Karaism
100px

In the matters of religious law, the Tanakh alone is the highest and absolute authority. The role of rabbis are not to reassess and adapt the rules of the covenant, but to interpret their literal meaning.

Malabarism
100px

As the descendants of the tribes of Israel spread across the world, they built smaller communities from west to east, acting as tribes of their own. Also called Cochin Jews, they made their new home in the Cochin Kingdom of South India. There, they intermixed with the local people and exchanged cultures.

Samaritanism
100px

Descended from the tribes that settled Samaria, Samaritans follow an original, unchanged version of the Torah. In this way they are practicing the true religion of Moses, serving the direct duties granted by God.

二元論[編集 | ソースを編集]

Dualist faiths have a special doctrine "Gnosticism", inheritable by new faiths, which makes them treat faiths with the Gnosticism doctrine or tenet as Righteous, as well as applying all other effects of the "Gnosticism" tenet. In both start dates Manicheanism is the only dualist faith remaining. However, dualist faiths can pop up rarely as heresies of other Abrahamic religions. Mandeaism, Priscillianism, and Cainitism are possible Christian heresies. Manicheanism, Sabianism, and Valentianism are possible Muslim heresies. Sethianism is a possible Jewish heresy.

Faith Description
Manicheanism
100px

The revelations granted to Buddha, Zoroaster and Jesus were incomplete reflections of the real world. The prophet Mani brought the final revelation of the existence of the spiritual world of light and the material world of darkness, and how human souls, as with all light, gradually return to the creator.

Cainitism
100px

Caine was the first victim of the Evil of the Demiurge, creator of all physical matter. Since matter and bodies are evil, bodies must be defiled and destroyed through sinfulness, so that the true human soul within can be freed.

Mandeaism
100px

Mandeanism traces its lineage to Adam, with John the Baptist as their greatest prophet. The world consists of light and darkness, and in time all mortal souls will be judged as to whether they are worthy to return to the eternal light.

Priscillianism
100px

There exists two kingdoms, one of Light and one of Darkness. Human souls were intended to conquer the Kingdom of Darkness, but fell and were trapped in the material realm. Among humans there were Twelve Patriarchs of Light who failed to overcome the Darkness, as they were split between body and soul. Thus God sent the Saviour to earth, and through his death once again enabled the freeing of human spirits.

Sabianism
100px

Sabianism believes in the eternally existing God, and a material world created by Satan. They worship the angelic caretakers of the world, who — together with the Prophets — guide humanity towards heaven, and reunification with God.

Sethianism
100px

The Unknown God emanated all existence into the perfect Pleroma, filled by gracious aeons, first among them Barbelo the Mother-Father.
A corruption caused the existence of Yaldabaoth, who stole a shred of divinity and created the material world. However, when he created mankind, he accidentally gave them his stolen spark of divinity. Yaldabaoth will spend eternity attempting to reclaim his power, while mankind must strive to return themselves to Barbelo and the Unknown God.

Valentinianism

The Father, the original creator, is the depth of all knowledge, and the path to true understanding — gnosis. Achieving knowledge improves the world, and once the world is collectively lifted from its material ignorance, the world will return to its spiritual, natural state.

Faith Description
Kitêbacilweism
100px

Followers of the Book of Revelation, which tells of Xwedê's greatness.

Meshefaresism
100px

Followers of the Black Book, which describes how the Lord came down from Black Mountain and created the world.

Yazidism
100px

The Yazidi believe that God created the world and placed it under the protection of seven angels, foremost among them Tawûsê Melek, the Peacock Angel. The Peacock Angel at first fell from God's grace, but his tears of remorse extinguished the fires of his prison, and he was reunited with God. In the same manner, we all seek to reunite with God at the end of many long lifetimes.

Faith Description
Nangchos

Buddhism in Tibet is known as Nangchos, or the Dharma of the Insiders. Within the Tibetan Empire, Vajrayana and Mahayana beliefs and practices synctretized with traditional Tibetan beliefs, practices, and deities, with varying schools also competing with each other for temporal control.

Vajrayana
100px

The motivation towards buddhahood is crucially important, and true enlightenment can only be achieved when sought for the benefit of all sentient beings. All beings are born with an enlightened mind, but it is obscured by existence. Practicing seeing the truth of the world and the universe therefore unlocks one's innate enlightenment.

Theravada
100px

The path to enlightenment goes through personal experience, reflection and reasoning. Gautama Buddha found his own path to Nirvana, and the only way of finding a similar way, is to experience, learn and study ones own existence.

Mahayana
100px

Release from Samsara is not merely something done individually, but an experience that is shared among sentient beings. Achieving buddhahood is one step on the long path for all sentient beings to be released into Nirvana, and that is the virtuous goal of Samsara.

Ari
100px

The Ari faith combines elements from tantric Buddhism, spirit worship, traditional Nāga worship as well as Hinduism. Ari worshipers are considered to be Buddhists, although their practices are preceived as somewhat unorthodox.

ヒンドゥー教[編集 | ソースを編集]

Faith Description
Shaivism

Shaivites worship Shiva, the creator and destroyer of worlds, as the Supreme Being that exists in all things. In the same fashion as Shiva works to maintain balance and preserve the universe, the faithful must strive to bring balance into their lives.

Vaishnavism
100px

In Vaishnavism, Vishnu is the Supreme Lord, and the most important devas are his many incarnated avatars, such as Rama and Krishna. Each of these various incarnations work to restore balance to the universe.

Krishnaism
100px

Krishna is the authentic form of the Supreme Being, and Vishnu is his avatar when he takes form as the omnipotent. Through his divine avatars, he is present in all things.

Smartism
100px

The Smarta tradition rejects the worship of individual gods. Brahman is one and eternal, and Vishnu, Devi, Shiva, Ganesh and Surya are worshiped as equal avatars of the Supreme Being. Any individual worship is a step towards achieving understanding and unity with Brahman.

Advaita Vedanta
100px

Unlike many Hindu faiths, Advaita Vedanta emphasizes the unity of the Atman, the true self, with the Brahman, the truest reality, and believes that moksha can be achieved in life as well as death.

Srikula Shaktism
100px

Shaktism believes in the Great Goddess as the Supreme Being from which springs all existence. The Srikula worship Tripura Sundari as the highest aspect of the Goddess, and the source of all Shakti, the energy of the universe.

Kalikula Shaktism
100px

Shaktism believes in the Great Goddess as the Supreme Being from which springs all existence. The Kalikula worship Kali as the one who can give guidance, good rebirth and ultimately moksha.

Faith Description
Digambara

Kevala Jnana frees the body from all physical needs. However, the soul can only be freed when completely naked, which is why Digambara monks must live without clothes.

Svetambara
100px

Kevala Jnana is a state of the soul, not of ones physical being. Through good lives, one can achieve omniscience and leave the endless cycle. The moment of moksha itself is only achievable through death, when one becomes Siddha.

Yapanyia
100px

The faith of Yapaniya Jains has some similarity to both the Svetambara and Digambara traditions, provoking the faithful of both faiths. Yapaniya mendicants are expected to be naked, much like Digambaran ones, but they do not adhere to their strict rules. The faith also holds that women can attain Moksha and nuns are common within the faith.

ゾロアスター教[編集 | ソースを編集]

Zoroastrianism can only be selected as a starting religion in 867. While it still exists in 1066, there aren't any landed characters that practice it. It is the only Eastern religion that treats other faiths within the religion as hostile.

Faith Description
Mazdayasna

Humans aid in struggle between Ahura Mazda and the evil spirits, Angra Mainyu, through good thoughts and lives. This is done through ritual purity, the preservation of nature and the destruction of evil creatures.

Zurvanism
100px

Zurvanists believe that Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu were equal but opposite twins, born from Zurvan, the Creator of everything. Zurvanism heavily emphasizes aiding Ahura Mazda by rooting out of evil and falsehoods.

Gayomarthianism
100px

Based on the idea that Ahura Mazda, through his thoughts, created evil spirits by accident, Gayomarthians reject the infallibility of the Lord of Wisdom, and instead emphasize ritualistic practice to learn Truth in communion with Ahura Mazda.

Khurmazdism
100px

Learning much from vedic philosophy, the Khurmazta recognise a wide set of gods and spirits, and dedicate their lives not only to Ahura Mazda, but also one his many aides and servants among the yazata.

Khurramism
100px

In a world of Light and Darkness, unjust rulers must be overthrown in support of what is good. Through prophets such as Mazdak, Muhammad and Abu Muslim, Khurramites believe that the divine is born into humanity, and will one day return to lead them as the Messiah.

Arewordik

Many ancient beliefs still resonate in the Arewordik faith, a sect of cryptic Zoroastrians with Ahura Mazda (as Aramazd) ruling over a pantheon of gods, including the Sun itself, that together direct the world.

Mazdakism
100px

The prophet Mazdak followed Ahura Mazda's word, and agitated for shared possessions and universal cooperation between humans to overcome Angra Mainyu.

道教[編集 | ソースを編集]

Faith Description
Quanzhen
100px

Followers of Quanzhen Taoism practice internal alchemy to perfect their bodies and harmonize themselves with the Tao. Through this process practitioners achieve physical longevity and spiritual immortality.

Shangqing
100px

Shangqing Taoism was the dominant form of Taoism during the Tang Dynasty. Its followers seek to harmonize themselves with the universe through mediation and physical exercises, as opposed to the talismans and alchemy used by other branches of Taoism.

Zhengyi
100px

Unlike the other Taoist schools, Zhengyis observe a strict theocratic hierarchy under the Celestial Master. Practitioners craft and sell protective talismans to prevent the loss of qi, the life energy which sustains all living things.

Religion and Faith Description
Hausa
Bori

Venerating the spiritual force that resides in all physical things, the priestesses of this faith serve as intermediaries between mankind and the spirits of the world.

Shamanism
Tengriism

Tengrists view their existence as sustained by Tengri, the eternal blue sky, and Eje, the fertile earth mother. Adherents are expected to keep the world in balance by living an upright, respectful life; deceitfulness and subversiveness are highly stigmatized.

Finno-Ugric
Ukonusko
(unrecognized string “ukonusko” for Template:Icon)

The veneration of nature and a profound respect for one's ancestors and their traditions are what define Finno-Ugric paganism. Held in high regard amongst adherents is sisu, a Finnish concept of stoic determination, grit, bravery, and resilience.

Slavic
Slovianska Pravda

Emphasizing personal duty, morality, and conformity, Slavic paganism is the blanket term for the myriad native faiths of much of Central and Eastern Europe. Community is an important part of most, and religious ceremonies are often public gatherings which celebrate beauty and joyfulness.

Oromo-Somali
Waaqism

The world is ruled by many deities, but they are all subject to the highest one, Waaq, the god of the sky. Rain and life is brought down to us from above.

Yoruba
Orisa

Though he created the universe, the high god of the Yoruba pantheon remains distant from mortal affairs. Practitioners instead pray to the òrìṣà, innumerable spirits sent by the higher divinities to guide humanity along their chosen path.

Akan
Akom

The various faiths of the Akan peoples worship the children of the creator and mother Earth.

Baltic
Vidilism

As adherents of "the abode of inner peace", Baltic pagans focus on living in harmony with the natural world around them while preserving the traditions and stories of their ancestors.

Kordofan
Kushitism

Veneration of the ancient gods remains strong here, as does the veneration of the boundary between life and death.

Sanegambian
Roog Sene

The Serer people's traditions outline the way of the Divine, the path to living a spiritually fulfilling life in honor of one's ancestors and the creator of the universe, Roog.

Norse
Ásatrú

The native faith of the Scandinavian region, Norse paganism revolves around reverence of gods known as the Æsir. Adherents are expected to live — and preferably die — in an honorable fashion.

Uralic
Táltosism

In the native Mogyër faith each Táltos, or priest, is chosen by the gods prior to their birth. Endowed with superhuman strength, wisdom, and powers, Mogyërs entrust these Táltos with protecting their communities and leading them to prosperity.

Greco-Roman
Hellenism

Hellenists worship the ancient Greek and Roman gods, said to reside on Mount Olympus. Each god has their own aspects and is venerated by their worshipers in their own way.

Zunbil
Zunism
100px

Established by the Zunbil dynasty, Zunists revere and praise the sun for bestowing its bounty upon the surface of the earth.

Siberian
Turumism
100px

Siberians believe in a horizontal world where men and beasts all live in clans, linked together through alliance or vengeance. Hunting is a core part of the equilibrium between taking and giving life, and with death all souls travel downstream to reincarnate in the clan they lived in previously.

Pagan
Paganism
100px

Commonly defined by a reverence for nature, ancestor worship, and a belief in spirits, many native faiths are considered to be various forms of paganism.
