特性は、キャラクターのパーソナリティ、能力、評判、および身体的特徴を表します。これらの特性は、イベントによって獲得したり失われたりすることがあり、なかには子孫に受け継がれる特性もあります。特性は、属性値(attributes)から他人が感じている評価(opinion )まで、キャラクターに関するすべてに影響します。ほとんどの特性は、特定のイベントの結果に影響を与えたり、追加の選択肢を与えたりします。ルーラーデザイナーを使用する場合は、カスタマイズポイント(customization points)を消費します。
性格特性
性格特性はキャラクターを最もよく表現している特性で、性格特性と相反する行動や決断を行った時に、 ストレスを受けるかどうかや、受けるストレスの大きさに影響を与えます。 AIキャラクターの場合、特性は他のキャラクターの 恐怖に対する抵抗力も決定します。キャラクターは3つ以上の性格特性を持たない傾向があります。性格特性は変えることもありますが、そうすることは非常に難しく、ストレスレベル(Stress Level)2以上での精神崩壊(mental break)の結果として発生するのが最も多いです。
それぞれの性格特性は反対の特性を持っており、通常、反対の性格特性を持った人物は互いの 評価が低くなります。キャラクターは2つの相反する特性を持つことはできません。

When reaching adulthood every character receives an education trait based on how their education focus went. Education traits grant a bonus to one skill as well as to the monthly experience gained in the Lifestyle associated with the trait. Prowess education is an exception, as there's no corresponding lifestyle or education focus for this attribute. Instead, if either the child's or its guardian's culture that has the Knighthood innovation, has a Martial education focus, and is of a gender that be knight, they will receive a Prowess education trait in additional to a Martial one.
